About the Hash Generator
Compute MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of any text at once. SHA hashes use your browser's Web Crypto API; MD5 is computed by a built-in implementation. Output can be hex (lower or upper case) or Base64.
Enter a secret key to compute HMAC signatures instead — the standard way to sign webhooks and API requests (for example, HMAC-SHA256).
How to use it
- Paste the text to hash.
- Optionally enter an HMAC key.
- Copy the hash you need.
Features
- MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512
- HMAC with a secret key
- Hex or Base64 output
- UTF-8 input
Frequently asked questions
Which hash should I use?
Use SHA-256 or stronger for integrity checks and signatures. MD5 and SHA-1 are broken for security purposes and should only be used for legacy checksums.
Can I hash passwords with this?
Plain hashes aren't suitable for storing passwords. Use a slow password hash such as Argon2, bcrypt or scrypt on your server.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens in JavaScript inside your browser tab. Your input is never sent to a server, logged or stored, so it is safe to use with internal or sensitive data.
