About the URL Encode / Decode
Percent-encode text for safe use in URLs, query strings and form data, or decode percent-encoded URLs back into readable text. Component mode (encodeURIComponent) encodes everything except letters, digits and - _ . ! ~ * ' ( ), which is right for individual query parameter values.
Full URI mode (encodeURI) leaves URL structure characters such as : / ? & = intact, so you can encode a whole URL containing spaces or non-ASCII characters.

- Choose Encode or Decode.
- For encoding, pick Component or Full URI.
- Paste text and copy the result.

Frequently asked questions
When should I use component vs full URI encoding?
Use component encoding for a single value you're inserting into a URL (e.g. a search term). Use full URI encoding only for a complete URL that already has the right structure.
Why is a space sometimes + and sometimes %20?
HTML forms (application/x-www-form-urlencoded) use + for spaces; elsewhere in URLs it's %20. The decoder accepts both.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens in JavaScript inside your browser tab. Your input is never sent to a server, logged or stored, so it is safe to use with internal or sensitive data.
